Who we are

As with the paradoxical belief of Village Earth (ViE), the meaning of Village Earth holds with it a belief of the coexistence of high technology and high touch; the wisdom of the west and the east, the attraction of ancient culture and modern sophistication; the worthiness of emotional passion and rational persistence.

The 21st century experienced an era of exponential technological innovation and development. Proximity between persons, cultures, economies, designs and ideas brought closer by open communication. Internet technology and globalization brings the world together, literally reaching “zero distance”, forming a new global village on Earth, thus the fundamental belief of ViE: the rationality that cultures and concepts of the world being fused and re-created; networks and alliances being formed; people and technology being inseparable.

The Chinese name of ViE (悠亦邑) has its original meaning inspired by a famous ancient Chinese poem with the term “a brand new world” (又一村). It connotes to the meaning of having the passion to strive for new heights outside the box; eyes wide open to new dimensions.

Finally, ViE also holds to a vision to work towards providing simple and yet exquisite handicrafts handmade from the culture rich villages. Besides being able to provide meaningful jobs to these villages, ViE believes in giving the concrete jungle a break and bringing modern sophisticated people back to nature and what is environmental to mother earth.
